Kenya Meeting
First of all, I want to apologize. I haven't written in a while, and I feel really bad!! But anywho, from October 9 to October 23 (for about 2 weeks) we had a meeting in Kenya. It was really fun because we got to see our friends from our meeting back in Zambia, which we missed a lot, and still miss! I didn't really write a lot about that meeting, so I think I should write about this one.
We arrived at the first meeting place about a day early, so we got a whole day to go shopping and explore Kenya! One of the things I love about Kenya is that they speak English, so it's easier to communicate. We went to a mall called Two Rivers and started shopping! We ate at a Mexican restaurant called Sabor รก Mexico, which is special because in Mozambique you don't really get Mexican restaurants, so our parents practically let us get anything on the menu. Call me fat, greedy, or a foodie but my burrito was GOOD! ๐ฏ
That Sunday we went to BURGER KING!! You don't get ANY American restaurants in Mozambique either, so this was a treat! ๐ Our dad let us get ANYTHING on the menu again, so of course we went all out! ๐ I got a double patty bacon cheeseburger! I have to admit, it WAS a little too much, but it was delicious!! And it reminded me of when I was little and I used to always wear those Burger King crowns! You never get too old for those! ๐
The next Sunday (at the second meeting) we didn't go to church and most of the other missionaries had gone back to their countries so we did a little bible study with the ones who were left. The kids acted out the story of Jesus walking on water! Can you guess who was Jesus?? Yours truly! I even had a beard going on (don't ask!) ๐ฌ It was fun!
You're probably getting confused about the meetings, so let me explain: The first meeting was for those who weren't going to the homeschool conference, which was going on at the same time. There were about 7 kids around my age, but only one of them I knew from Lake Kariba (our other meeting). It was at a hotel called Pride Inn. The second meeting was at a conference center. They have guest rooms, a cafeteria, and things like that, but NO pool! I was so sad! ๐ฅ But it was pretty cold anyway, so we probably wouldn't have wanted to swim. It's called Brackenhurst, and it was REALLY fun! But the Brackenhurst meeting was only for the Zambezi cluster, which is Malawi, Mozambique, and Zambia. Because of this, I didn't get to see some of my other friends from Kenya and Zimbabwe for very long. But it was still fun! We had this really cool youth pastor from Arizona come and teach us! He was really fun! Sorry for all of the exclamation points (insert awkward smile emoji here). But yeah, it was still awesome, and I was glad to see some of my friends. The bummer is that my friend Joy (meet her here: The Interview) is going to go to a camp in December called mk (missionary kid) camp, and most of my friends are going. But I can't because you have to be or turn twelve during the meeting, but I don't turn twelve until April! ๐ข I will still see all of my friends in April because that is when we have another meeting, and I will turn twelve during the meeting. For some meetings, the 12 year-olds and up get to room with each other, so I hope I can do that!
This coming week is finals week for Portuguese school, so wish me luck! I've made some good friends at this school, and it's going to be hard to leave them.
This post is getting pretty long, so I should end here! I have been writing more and more songs. Oh and by the way, I'm getting into puns, so here's one: Why did the can crusher hate his job? Because it was soda-pressing! Get it?? ๐ Thanks for your prayers! Hugs to all of our family and friends in the states! ๐ Tchau!
